Edge…a new frontier!
I was delighted to be invited to join the ‘Edge’ Public Transport session today run by Mrs Cliffe and Mr Wright. Pupils in Year 7 have been learning about bus routes, tube journeys and general essential out and about stuff! Two groups had to plan a journey to Barons Court and a return via Ealing Common. They took basic equipment that included zip cards, school phones and essential rations – a packed lunch with all food groups being represented!
It is somewhat daunting for staff to ‘take risks’, watching children reading tube maps and allowing them to make decisions – I have a healthy respect for both Mrs Cliffe and Mr Wright who live on this ‘edge’ each week! However, I am mindful that I as a parent too often make decisions for my children and there is already a time for them to be doing so themselves. Again, thank you staff for leading such innovative Edge sessions that are about the real world…I thoroughly enjoyed my lunchtime out and about…more photos available…
