Orley Farm has a new Head and Deputy Head of School!

11/03/2016

This week has offered Orley Farm an opportunity to really look at the democratic processes that the UK employs.  Mrs Cliffe led an exceptional midweek assembly to Upper School to outline the History of our voting rights and the responsibilities that come with these rights.  As London prepares to elect a new Mayor and the UK make choices about a part or being apart from Europe, this set the perfect background for our election week to find our new Head of School and their Deputy…

…On Monday, we heard four exceptional speeches from Alan Lewis, Shaan Ali Remani, Dan Wong and Matthew Harrison, our shortlisted candidates.  They then faced a demanding formal interview in which Miss Mowle, Mr Ryan, Mr Ravasse and I probed the policies of each candidate.  Over the week 218 pupils and 35 staff cast their respective votes.

This morning Beatrice Barbulescu joined us from Mill Hill and Zayn Hussain joined us from St. Paul’s to formally handover their respective titles from last year.  I am proud to announce that Shaan Ali Remani will be Head of School with Dan Wong as Deputy Head of School.  I would like to thank both Beatrice and Zayn for taking time out to join us and to share some words of advice – truly inspiring.  Zayn left us with the following quotation from Jim Rohn:

Let others lead small lives, but not you.  Let others argue over small things, but not you.  Let others cry over small hurts, but not you.  Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you…

I would like to thank all of the candidates for putting themselves forward for these challenging roles and I hope that you continue to throw yourselves into such opportunities – as this does define resilience!
