Book Week…

14/03/2017

Bookish fun was had by all during Book week.  The tone was set by the opening assembly: the message being that we are made by the books that shape us.  All staff chose their favourite children’s book, and shared them with the children.  Mr Perry made a very fetching “Juliet” in our montage play of classical literature!

Visits by high-profile authors Josh Lacey and Joe Craig were really enjoyed, inspiring writing in our future generation.  Josh and Joe were both impressed by the keenness of our pupils and meeting an “actual” author was exciting for all.  One student’s question for Joe summed this up – “Are you REALLY Joe Craig?”!

The week ended with some wonderful book character costumes parading around the school.  The catwalk in the gym saw some very fancy moves from the characters too! Throw in a Shakespearian quote hunt, picture quiz, World Book Day menu, book jars, potato characters and book swaps and literature was certainly in the air this week.

That’s what novels do, I think,

Those books we feel we own.

They bury deep within our skin,

Become our flesh, our bone.
