Charitable acts & Beanbag Cheer awards

02/10/2015

We were very impressed with Hugo, Henry and Elliott (Year 6) who ran their cake stall last Friday. They raised an impressive £318.  Initially it was a venture to cover kit costs for the Holland football tour, however, having hit their target they very kindly decided to donate all their profits to charity, supporting Macmillan and the Syrian Refugees.  Well done and great initiative!

Equally impressive feats of a physical nature this time was a challenge completed by five pupils who took part in the Moor Park Junior Fun Run at the Merchant Taylor’s School.  Shubh M (Y8) participated in the 3.9km U15 race with the following Y5 children each running 1.3km in the U10s races : Tara K, James McW, Ishwari M, Aidan M-L.  Between them they have so far raised £500 for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre at Mount Vernon. This event has already raised more than £30,000 this year with still more money to come in that will go directly towards supporting people affected by cancer.

They, and the other students who were nominated for their beanbag cheers this week, fully deserved the recognition.  Well done and thank you!
