Pilgrim Piano Competition

I was blown away by the talent on display…and this was talent clearly rooted in dedicated practice!  Pupils entered from across the year groups and I dare say that this might well have been the largest field as we had to allocate nearly 2 hours to ensure that everyone had their opportunity to put their best foot…or dancing fingers forwards!

Mr Jones, the new Director of Music at The John Lyon School having recently moved from Merchant Taylor’s School, had the unenviable task of picking a winner.  However, for me this was an afternoon of shear bliss, listening to such a variety of music with real and deep emotional attachments.  I have no doubt that Miss Toyn was incredibly proud of an event that showcased talent, commitment and risk-taking.  Congratulations to all who entered.  Mr Jones announced Lukas Roberts as the worthy winner but not before he had offered individual advice and feedback to every competitor.  What a great way to end the week!
