Mrs Leacock and Miss Cross were making inroads into teaching this generation that it is possible to mend and make good rather than always disposing and buying new! I was really impressed with the focus and concentration involved as this group looked to repair holes as well as sew on buttons…I recall as a training teacher, throwing away a shirt because it had lost the top two buttons – much to my shame. It was only later that I found out that this was why spare buttons were sewn onto the inside of the shirt…I am a slow learner! Well done Year 6…perhaps we might reverse a trend of thinking and return to a more responsible way…
